M&M's

Today Juan noticed my arms looked less "meaty" as he put it. Bless him, I'm not even mad about the "meaty" description.

The lemon tea cleanse is going well. Just going to finish up on my box before I start on the real lemon, cayenne, and maple syrup cleanse.

All in all I'm doing pretty good so far. I'm saying "no" more and more to dairy except my craving for peanut M&M's last night. I broke my tooth real good. Goodbye new glasses and hopefully I won't need a crown.

Have a wonderful week!

I have been looking into liver cleanses for the past 2 weeks.  I decided to start with drinking lemon tea that I had bought.  It's delicious!  Downside, I wasn't expecting to feel so cleansed so fast!  It's a little overwhelming.

The liver is the largest body organ and it's the place where you digest food and metabolize it.  It's the main part of giving our body the right amount of liquid the body needs to maintain it's health.  Some mental and physical ailments can be attributed to a toxic liver!  Cleansing the liver can remove the harmful poisonous substances that cause the body to experience head pain and seasonal allergies.  Hello?!  That sounds JUST like me!

And for the lemon tea?  Well, lemon is a natural antiseptic!  It cleanses the blood and by doing that it also gives you mental clarity and boosts your energy!  It also calms your stomach in the process and rids the body of bloat!

Anyone else diggin' the lemon love? :)

I hope you all have a good day!

Well, I did it. I signed up for my first ever 5K. This girl is NOT a runner! I can dance and frolic for hours but I am not made for running at all.  But my awesome friends say we can have fun and run or walk, frolic or whatever. We are doing the Run or Dye 5K. What a fun first one!!

Ok. I've changed my goals for the next 2 weeks.  Instead of no dairy, I'm simply adding a fruit it veggie serving when I really want something else.

Also, I'm thinking of changing the name of my blog... It's not really about becoming vegan. Besides someone had a site called Pass the tofu and pass the broccoli. Just saw that. So new name coming soon.

Ok, it's been awhile. Baby steps, right?

Cutting down on dairy is hard, yo! The only time I find myself eating dairy is with my husband. Ok, i did have a couple tiny serving cups of dressing...Ugh. I must say I have been reading labels and doing my best! When I messed up with pizza with the hubby the other day I was so sick!  That's promising! AND I cut out cheese on my sammys. Yes!

I find myself with my head spinning most days. Giving up eggs is hard since my hubby cooks eggs every morning! Eggs with potato, fried eggs, scrambled, migas(tortilla in scrambled eggs), eggs on toast, eggs and chorizo... I don't eat that one... Pork=MSG  I did try to do just egg whites, um expensive!!  Then I tried egg whites in a carton. It looks like snot and I gag when I eat them, then I think of all the chickens cramped in cages and THEN I think of all the baby chickens going through that grinder when they aren't wanted... Oh dear. Watch Vegucated if you want to cry...

I'm almost lost. I've searched cook books and it's all food I am allergic to, can't stomach or just too expensive. What to do, what to do.

Oh, here's a thought I shared with my friend. Why can I fill myself with lettuce at any restaurant but come home and make the same salad and be completely turned off by it? I am beginning to think (which I'm sure it's true) that food is all in the mind. Anyone agree?

Next 2 week challenge: take my vitamins, don't eat dairy NO MATTER WHAT, and I'm going to do 10 push ups a day.

Gotta get healthy!

Well, today hasn't been the best. I ate some puffy Cheetos last night, just a handful, and I have been sick alllll day. Broke down and ate at Dicky's BBQ.

Went grocery shopping and bought a variety of nuts, rice cakes, fruit, veggies, and NO CHEESE! A vast inprovement! I also got pasta made out of veggies. I'm excited to see how they taste!

My stress level is high today. Searching and searching for a new job that will be better for my emotional health.

I am thinking of starting small with this journey. I may never be a vegan but I would be open to anything that will make me feel better.

Current goal: cut the cheese. ;) haha love that pun! I'm going to cut my intake as much as possible. Need to go pick up some hummus Thursday. I'm hoping that will taste better than cheese. A girl can dream.

Well goodnight. Time to take a bunch of antacids and cuddle up with my hubby!

Good morning! It's 8:15 AM and let me tell ya, I'm nervous! Let's see how we'll today goes... My husband doesn't work tonight and I can guarantee he'll want to go out and eat. Which is fine, baby steps, our apt is full of bad nasty food anyway. I am out of sliced cheese and deli meat conveniently so I'm not sure what I'll find for lunch.  The only thing good in the apt is my whole grain oatmeal (that I usually prepare with a hunk of butter).
I will update later on how the day went.

Well hi! Welcome to my first blog ever, called, "Please Pass the Vegan?" I am starting off this blog honest. Until this afternoon I had no idea what a vegan was. I thought they were the animal lovers as displayed in SATC's fashion week segment when Samantha gets red paint dumped on her fur coat and only ate vegetables.  Along this journey, however long it takes, I will be researching information about a no meat diet and everything that comes with it in my point of view. So, let's get some brief info what led me here tonight.

I came home from my awesome church, PHCC, and my husband was sleeping still from working so hard overnight at Target. I was bored and desperately hoping Netflix would update and I could watch season 2 of Downton Abbey. Loving documentaries, I came across one called, Vegucated. It's about a conformed vegan who places a Craigslist ad for 3 meat, egg, and dairy lovin' people to do a 6 week study to learn and try becoming Vegans. These people did medical tests and went shopping and ended up learning about how animals were treated. I wish it had a warning, I saw the most disgusting acts preformed on chickens, cows, pigs, and the baby forms of them.

"Ahhhhhh!"
I gagged, screamed, cried and winced.

Not only was I shocked from that I was learning how bad meat is for your health!

Animal protein including dairy is so bad for you. It spikes your cholesterol, chances of cancer and tumors, diabetes, heart disease and so on... Crazy right!?

Now that you know what shook me up here's my bio.

My name is Desiree. I'm 28 years old. I've struggled with anxiety since I was born, just enough to keep me in my toes. I recently became ill with high anxiety, panic attacks, and depression. I am fatigued all the time and sit 30 odd hrs a week basically doing light cleaning waiting for guests to wander into the salon I'm at. I get home and eat out with my hubby and sit in front of the tv every night. I don't work out anymore. I do Zumba but I now work when my favorite instructors offer classes.  I am 5'5" and weigh (oh my) somewhere in the 240ish lb range.  Yes, obease and i cannot tell you the last time I weighed myself.  I have an over eating problem that wears on my mind all the time. My favorite foods are bageles and cream cheese, pasta, PB, cookies, Coldstone Ice cream, cheese pizza, fried sesame chicken, sliced beef brisket, and the mouth watering medium cooked ribeye steak.
I just got married to Juan who is 100% Texican ;) and the best cook! (Not always the most healthy) He's 13 yrs older than I am and I am concerned for his health too. He's a skinny fat. He looks in great shape but who knows what's going on in the inside.
I have a Scandinavian back ground  and a Grandma who loved anything processed aside from her meat and potato diet.
I have a growing list of allergies and sensitivities. Let's list them shall we? Lactose intolerance, walnuts, anything colored blue, green, purple, MSG, adhesive, trees, pollens, molds, any shedding animal, dryer sheets, hydrocodone, and ibuprofen!   When you look at the food I can't have it's anything processed with preservatives, anything containing dairy; milk, whey, cheese, malt, and nothing with said food colors.  What does that leave to eat for an average person? Not much.

My goal is to start eating to live. I'm doing this to hopefully rid myself of unwanted fat, future health problems along with the current, and to teach others around me. The other benefits? Not contributing to the animal abuse and saving the environment too.  I'm going to do my best with baby steps. Wish me all the luck in the world! I'm going to need it!
